Product Announcement: Improved Shopping Cart and Order Review

We’re pleased to announce we’ve made some big updates to our Marketplace that’ll improve the overall shopping experience. With this update, we’ve optimized existing elements, added more transparency to shipping costs in the shopping cart, enhanced shopping on mobile, and made the order review page more inclusive and accessible. Let’s discuss these great new features in detail!

Shopping cart update

As shopping is becoming more important on mobile devices, we’ve made a serious improvement to the responsiveness of the shopping cart on mobile. The shopping cart slideout will now respond to the device you’re viewing it on, making the overall cart viewing experience more legible. This is part of our ongoing push to create an entire mobile-friendly shopping solution to our Marketplace.

The second update is increased transparency between the shopper and the supplier. Now you’ll be able to view the shipping costs before proceeding to the checkout screen – removing any additional cost uncertainty while shopping.

Redesigned order review page

To start off, the order review page was not mobile-friendly. We wanted to change that. By removing specific elements, re-arranging others, and implementing components from our internal design system, we were able to craft a beautifully redesigned page that is more scannable, accessible, and digestible. Updating these elements not only gave the page more breathing room, but also allowed for it to be fully responsive – a goal we’re constantly thriving towards. We believe you’re going to love the new design.

Improved consistency

Having consistent elements across all pages is key to a better user experience. That’s why we’ve updated the heading component in the order review page to match all other Marketplace pages. The elements you’re used to seeing on one page will now be consistently in the same place no matter where you go.

Our typography has also been updated in both the shopping cart slideout and the order review page for improved accessibility. The enhancement follows strict contrast ratios and legible size specifications. Expect other areas of our product to adopt this soon!

Mobile friendly

As we’ve stated before, over 50% of website viewing is on mobile. We want to support those using a mobile device to browse our Marketplace by continuing to make it completely mobile-friendly. This is a huge push we’re actively making for the entire Marketplace and more updates will follow in the near future. Stay tuned!
