As solo dental practices become less common, the ADA Health Policy Institute estimates that more dentists will gravitate toward group practices. Dental support organizations — commonly known as DSOs — are entities that offer administrative, marketing and nonclinical support to dental practices. Poor oral health may affect the brain later in life: early study | February 4, 2023
An early study has shown keeping your gums and teeth healthy may have added benefits for your brain health. Preliminary research was presented at the American Stroke Association’s International Stroke Conference, suggesting adults who are genetically prone to poor oral health could be at a greater risk of showing signs of declining brain health. Nearly three out of four dentists plan to raise their fees in 2023, according to the ADA Health Policy Institute’s January Economic Outlook and Emerging Issues in Dentistry Poll. Other commonly reported plans include hiring more staff and dropping out of some insurance networks. Read more
Dr. Meeks paves the way by leading Maryland’s first dental clinic for patients with HIV, AIDS | February 12, 2023

Dr. Raj Khanuja of Headwaters Dental sponsored free dental care days for those who couldn’t afford it, providing $104,000 worth of care. The free clinics do not require an application or proof that clients cannot pay. Read More
‘It honestly does feel like you’re playing’: Augmented reality dental simulators unveiled at Sask. University | February 18, 2023
Five new, state-of-the-art dental simulator machines have been installed at the University of Saskatchewan’s College of Dentistry, the first of their kind in Canada. These innovative machines designed by a company in the Netherlands will give the college a competitive advantage in their training. Read More
