Don Hui  DDS, FRCD(C) is an Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon with a practice in Woodbridge, Ontario.   He specializes in in facial reconstructive surgery, focusing on the mouth and jaw and applies special techniques to optimize results for his patients.  


What is the focus of your practice?

The focus of our practice has always been about people, I love meeting people, and treating people, it sounds corny, but people are at the heart of everything we do here.  We run the practice like a boutique hotel where customers are taken care of from the moment they walk in.  They receive the white glove treatment every step of they way so that they feel completely cared for.


How did you grow your business?

Because my business is based on referrals, I focused on meeting referring dentists.  I went door to door and attended industry functions.  Networking has been key to the success of the practice and I’ve met some wonderful people over the years, and I’m going to miss the ones that I’ve know for years that are now retiring.


What do you attribute your success to?

Both investment in machinery and digital workflow.   We invested in a 3D code Beam CT scanner – which gives us insights that a conventional Xray does not – that elevates the quality of care we provide our patients.   As well, we created a digital workflow to facilitate the running of the practice while increasing accuracy and efficient and allowing us to see more patients.   Because of it, we can create and put in a custom-made tooth into the patient’s mouth by the end of the day.  Our patients love that level of service.  


How do you use Sowingo?

Sowingo is a big part of our digital workflow and has been hugely beneficial.   In the past, we would conduct a weekly count of inventory manually.  Now, Sowingo tells me when I’m running low.  I can be certain that everything I need for a patient is at arms length.  From daily sundries and necessities like gauze, to the extremely specific specialized implants.  We need to have the exact right implants on hand to provide the best level of service for our customers.  With Sowingo, I know I have the right size in inventory.  


Is there another aspect of Sowingo that helps you?

Yes, they help me to keep my eye on new technology, new products, and techniques.   If there is something new being used in Germany, Sweden or anywhere in the world, I’ve always found it on Sowingo.  They give me access to the bleeding edge of technology, and I appreciate that.
